Leh Palace

Built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 1600s, the nine-story Leh Palace (Lhachen Palkhar) looms majestically on the cliffs of Tsemo Hill above Leh. Modeled on Lhasa’s Potala Palace with imposing sloping granite walls and traditional timber balconies, the palace museum houses historic royal thangkas, ceremonial headdresses, and sweeping rooftop panoramas of the Stok Kangri range.
